Taking up a diploma in film technology is the first step towards a creative career. However, it requires years of hard work and dedication. Fortunately, there are several training courses available for students who wish to pursue a career in this field.
The Diploma of Film and Video Design program aims at developing basic skills in cinematography, editing and sound design. It also gives students accreditation for further study.
The Associate in Applied Science degree in Film, Television and Animation at GKFTII College is designed to provide a broad understanding of the filmmaking process. The programme covers the production and post-production phases of filmmaking, as well as storytelling and directing.
During the programme, students gain hands-on experience, and develop technical and practical skills, through participation in a variety of film-making exercises. Upon completion, graduates may seek entry-level employment in production support, or apply for a Bachelor of Film, TV and Animation.
The course offers an inspiring environment for creativity. Students are also mentored by award-winning filmmakers. As a result of these experiences, students become familiar with industry practices, and gain access to industry-standard cameras and editing stations.
In addition to learning the fundamentals of filmmaking, students in the Diploma in Film and television program are also trained in visual effects, storytelling, directing and editing. They are also provided with hands-on experience, allowing them to produce a short film and portfolio piece for their final semester.
Graduates of the program may also pursue a career in media or public relations agencies, as well as public relations or audiovisual production companies.
